Quality over quantity

Today's agenda included five hours of ringing, begining as usual from half an hour before sunrise (all nets open at 05:17am). Although the low totals of birds have reflected the unproductive weather conditions of the last month it has still been heartening to catch a modest selection of species (29 in total today).

We were lucky to catch another Wryneck (Vendehals, Jynx torquilla) after the standardised ringing.

The observations from this morning's watch at Sydhukket were also rather modest. The highlights included a breeding plumage Black-throated Diver (Sortstrubet Lom, Gavia arctica) and three Arctic Skuas (Almindelig Kjove, Stercorarius parasiticus) migrating north.
