First Icterine Warblers of the year
The day began with a light breeze and low cloud cover coupled with mist which limited visibility. As a result migration was somehwat hampered but still included some new arrivals including the first two Icterine Warblers (Gulbug, Hippolais icterina) of the year. Many of the Lesser Whitethroats (Gærdesanger, Curruca curruca) and Phylloscopus warblers have been carrying "pollen horns" (a hard coating of pollen on the forehead feathers) accumulated whilst feeding from the heads of flowers.
