Smukhed og koldhed

tirsdag 12. november 2024
af Louis & Hanelie

Observations:

Ringing:

It was a rather slow ringing day, quite cold in the morning, there was white frost on the fence, and it formed little white clouds when I breathed out. When I opened the nets in the lighthouse garden, Anne did the station garden, I saw two owls and found their pellets on the loops of one nets. Later, I saw them together with Anne. We were quite excited the whole day.

Later in the morning it cleared up and we had blue sky, and the sun warmed us up. That made the nets pretty visible and did not bring so many birds. But we got a Greenfich “Grønirisk”, one of Annes favorites in hand. Also, a fat male 2k+ Blackbird with one white feather on the breast.

In the afternoon Louis, Anne and I tried to find the owls again, but we did not succeed.

Anne and I decided to open the nets before sunset and when I went to check the second time, it was there, the Long-eared Owl “Skovhornugle”.

I am not sure if it was one of the birds we saw in the morning but anyway, we were all pretty amazed. So far, the following rounds did not bring more owls or Woodcocks “Skovsneppe” or anything, and I am soon going to close, it is already late.

Moths:

I got three species of moths this night. One I did not have for a while: Agrochola macilenta “Mager Jordfarveugle”.
