Lisa Flam:
Home, sweet home!
I joined my family for a 2-day trip to Copenhagen, enjoyed every minute, but couldn’t wait to be back here. It made me realize how much I love Blåvand. David picked me up last evening and I was finally back.
I’m still waiting for the Yellow-browed Warbler (hvidbrynet løvsanger), but I had some nice species that I was waiting to see (and ring!)
The weather seemed promising, NE wind, no rain, a bit too cold for me (can't wait to see myself handle cold November!) but not that many birds, maybe the wind was too weak.
The sunrise today was unbelievably beautiful, I love that that part of this job forces us to see the sunrises everyday.
While ringing the birds from the first round, I saw a flock of Starlings (stære) flying back-and-forth above the nets and I knew I’ll catch at least 1, next round we had 2! First time for me ringing them. I will say this, they are very noisy and STINKY! But it was worth it. What a beautiful bird!

At 10:00 we had a Lesser Redpoll (lille gråsisken) (my first one, ask Bent how excited I was) and the first Goldfinch (stillits) for the season. It seems they are uncommon in the nets: last autumn 5, in 2016 only 1! Maybe we will be lucky this autumn?

Michael is learning how to extract birds from the net and he has improved a lot! He joins pretty much every day for the last hours of ringing and his hard work is paying off! I feel proud. 😊
I had a lot of help throughout the day, thanks everyone! It is so good to be back home.
